Charles Wayne ‘Chuck’ Waldorf

CUMBERLAND COUNTY, N.C. — Charles Wayne “Chuck” Waldorf, son of the late Leroy A. Waldorf Jr. and Doris Adams Waldorf, died Tuesday, April 19, 2011, in Cumberland County, N.C. He was born Aug. 24, 1952, in Greenville. Charles’ brother, John Edward Waldorf, died Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2013.

After not being able to contact Charles for a period of time, his siblings conducted a search for him through a Department of Justice sponsored organization, the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NAMUS), which specializes in locating missing persons. After a several-month search, NAMUS confirmed that Charles had died in 2011 and the authorities were unable to locate his family at that time. His family was informed of his death on Dec. 5, 2012.

Charles was a 1970 graduate of Commodore Perry High School, where he was a member of the wrestling team. He graduated from Edinboro College in 1975 with a bachelor of science in political science. He later graduated from Mercer County Technical School as an industrial electrician.

Charles received clearances to assist in rewiring nuclear power reactors during mandatory shutdown periods in California, Arizona, Maine and Connecticut. He later settled in Virginia, where he spent the majority of his life. He worked as an electrician for various companies before opening his own residential electrical contracting company.

Charles is survived by three sisters, Marilynn (Roger) Roae of Erie, Linda Waldorf of Grove City and Pamela (Gary) Williamson of Meadville; and a brother, James (Darlene) Waldorf of Mercer; several nieces and nephews; four aunts; two uncles; and numerous cousins.

He will be remembered for his unique personality by both his family and friends.

Calling hours for both Charles and his brother, John “Ed”, will be held Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Robert L. Snyder Funeral Home and Crematory Inc., 3223 Perry Highway, Sheakleyville, and a joint funeral service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, with the Rev. Eric Peters, pastor of Fredonia Presbyterian Church, officiating.

Online condolences and memories may be posted at rlsfh.com.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be sent to the Wrestling Boosters, c/o Commodore Perry High School, 3002 Perry Highway, Hadley, Pa. 16130; or NAMUS, 3400 Camp Bowie Blvd., Sixth Floor, Fort Worth, Texas 76107.
