Shirley J. Medved, 79, of Meadville, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2013, at Crawford County Care Center, Saegertown. She was born May 22, 1933, in Lundy’s Lane, a daughter of Russell and Mildred Ball.
She graduated from Northwestern High School and from Edinboro State College with a degree in counseling and an undergraduate degree in speech and hearing. She was the guidance counselor at Meadville Area Senior High School from 1973 to 1998. She enjoyed quilting, reading and traveling.
She is survived by a daughter, Kathleen M. Medved of Meadville; three sons, Dennis P. Medved of Albion, Thomas A. Medved and his wife, Julie, of Saegertown, and Michael A. Medved of Albion; three grandchildren, Guy Medved, Michala Medved and Ryan Medved; a sister, Marilyn Leopold of Pensacola, Fla.; a brother, Gary Ball of Seminole, Fla.; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and four brothers, Lawrence, Edwin, John and Eugene Ball.
The Medved family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Crawford County Care Center for the wonderful way they cared for Shirley.
