Larry A. Schlosser

CONNEAUTVILLE — Larry A. Schlosser, 73, of Conneautville, formerly of York, passed away peacefully after an illness on Friday, April 25, 2014, at Wesbury United Methodist Retirement Community in Meadville.

Born Feb. 14, 1941, in York, he was the son of James and Margaret Heckamen Schlosser.

Larry was a graduate of York High School. He received his bachelor’s degree in psychology from York College of Pennsylvania. In December of 2013 he received his master’s degree in psychology from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania.

After graduation from high school, he served our country in the U.S. Army and then served for more than 30 years in the Army National Guard.

Larry retired from General Telephone as an engineer after 30 years of service. He then enjoyed driving bus for Laidlaw Bus Co. for 10 years. He was also served as a constable in Conneaut Township for many years.  

He was a member of St. James Lutheran Church in Hallam. Larry enjoyed doing Sudoku puzzles, rebuilding cars and machinery, and flying his plane, and he loved spending time with his great-granddaughter, Tegan. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Survivors include a son, James A. Schlosser of Meadville; four grandchildren, Janae Schlosser of Meadville, Ryan Galbraith of Meadville, Crystal Schlosser of Conneaut Lake and Justin Pease of San Diego, Calif.; two great-grandchildren, Tegan Schlosser and Mason Galbraith; a sister, Ruth Carbaugh and her husband, Gerald, of Red Lion; and a brother, Robert Schlosser and his wife, Ann, of Hallam.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Charlotte Daley; and a brother, James H. Schlosser.

Calling hours will be Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Royal-Coleman Funeral Home, 6028 U.S. Highway 6, Linesville.

Military honors will be conducted at 4:30 p.m. by Huidekoper Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2006 at the funeral home.

A celebration of his life dinner will be held in Meadville at a later date. Also, a memorial service will be held in York at the convenience of the family.

Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery, York.
