John (Jack) Richardson Hoover

CONNEAUT LAKE — John (Jack) Richardson Hoover, a dearly loved husband, father and grandfather, passed away Saturday, April 12, 2014, at UPMC Hamot, Erie.

He was a Conneaut Lake resident for 65 years. He was born in Pittsburgh on Feb. 21, 1926, to Howard Hoover and Blanch (Schmidt) Hoover. 

John married Willa Mae Jestead, who later passed away May 16, 1994. He then married Diana Catherine Campbell on June 6, 1998. 

He was employed as a sheet metal worker for 61 years. He worked at George Culligan, then John Harrison Co. for 38 years, then worked at McKemish Sheet Metal Co. until retirement. 

John was a member of Local Union 12.

He was a World War II veteran, having serve in the European Theatre, a paratrooper with U.S. Army’s 13th Airborne Division 1944-1945.  He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1810 of Brentwood.

John faithfully attended Living Waters Worship Center of Meadville.

Survivors include his wife, Diana Hoover of Conneaut Lake; two sons, William and his wife, Karen, of Pittsburgh, and Richard and his wife, Kathy, of Fresno, Calif.; his present wife’s children who thought of him as a wonderful second father and grandfather, Sherry Parker of Meadville, Brian Parker of Meadville, Sue and her husband, Richard, Sheets of Meadville, Michelle Moore of Waco, Texas, Renee and her husband, Joseph, Cranmer of Franklin; a sister, Lois McDonald of Pittsburgh; two grandchildren, Heidi and her husband, Bryan Calhoun, and Eric and his wife, Vanessa, Hoover; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Willa Mae; two sisters, Blanche Lessa and Alice Kaylor; and two brothers, Howard Hoover and Fred Hoover.

Calling hours are Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Dickson Funeral Home, 130 N. Second St., Conneaut Lake.

The funeral is Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home.

The committal service is Thursday at 1 p.m. at Jefferson Memorial Park, with the Rev. Jude Urso.
