EDINBORO — Gordon Arnett Flood, 86, of Edinboro died Friday, Jan. 17, 2014. He was born in Felicity, Ohio, on Dec. 17, 1927, a son of the late Milford and Hazel Arnette Flood.

Dr. Flood taught public school music in Nebraska and Kansas, and at the university level in Michigan, Louisiana, Iowa and Pennsylvania. For 20 years he directed the Edinboro University Singers, Chorale and Madrigal Singers. His degrees were granted by the University of Nebraska and Michigan State University. Post-doctoral study in higher education administration was done at Florida State University. He was twice named “Teacher of the Year.”

He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy “Pat” Flood; his brother, Raymond Flood; a son-in-law, Norman Duncan; and granddaughter, Jaymie.

Survivors include a daughter, Susan James and her husband, Duane, of Conneautville; four sons, David Flood and his wife, Vickie, of Buford, Ga., Gary Flood and his wife, LaDora, of Canal Winchester, Ohio, Mark Flood and his wife, Nadine, of Fredericksburg, Va., and Jon Flood and his wife, Patty, of Cambridge Springs; a sister, Audrey Shuler of Virginia; and 11 grandchildren, Erika, Stephanie, Eric, Kelly, Caleb, Daniel, Jacob, Hannah, Grace, Catherine and Sean; eight great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

No calling hours will be observed. A memorial service will be held for Gordon and Pat Flood at the Riverside Golf Course in Cambridge Springs on Saturday from 2 to 5 p.m.
