Francis D. Turner

HADLEY — Francis D. Turner of Old Perry Highway, Hadley (Sandy Creek Township), passed away at 11:35 a.m. on Sunday, May 11, 2014, at his residence following a period of declining health. He was 86.

Francis was born in Cochranton on April 3, 1928, a son of the late Dale and Myrtle Mae Scofield Turner. He had been a self-employed dairy farmer and had been a school bus contractor for Commodore Perry School District for many years. He enjoyed traveling and square dancing and always enjoyed the companionship of his dog, Tink.

He is survived by his companion of 33 years, Carol Collins of Hadley; three sons, Lyle Turner and his companion, Joanie Hall, of Hubbard, Ohio, Raymond Turner and his companion, Cindy Wells, of Hadley, and Clair Turner and his wife, Lee, of Hadley; two daughters, Vicki Hoover and her husband, Michael, of Panama City Beach, Fla., and Shari Gastrow and her husband, Scott, of Milwaukee, Wis.; two stepdaughters, Sheryl Schrag of Conneaut Lake and Belinda Nicholson of Meadville; two sisters, Mary Etta Brown of Clinton, Tenn., and Donna Ann Musoni of Hadley; 10 grandchildren, Todd Turner of Conneaut Lake, Ryan Bortner of Meadville, Andrew Gastrow of Milwaukee, Wis., Shaun Bortner of Meadville, Hailey Gastrow of Milwaukee, Shannon Boos of Tampa, Fla., Coty Clemente of Clarks Mills, Carrie Smith of Saegertown, Crissy McMahonn of Meadville and Jenna Mann of Clark Summit; and 14 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Leora Mae Hays.

Friends may call at Robert L. Snyder Funeral Home and Crematory Inc., 3223 Perry Highway, Sheakleyville, on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. and may share condolences and memories online at robertsnyderfuneralhome.com.

The funeral and committal service will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, with John Hall, Heartland Hospice chaplain, officiating.

Cremation has been selected as disposition.

The family has suggested that memorial tributes may be made to the Parkinson’s Research Foundation, 5969 Cattleridge Blvd., Suite 100 Sarasota, Fla. 34232; or to the Heartland Hospice, 3871 E. State St., Hermitage, Pa. 16148.
