CONNEAUTVILLE — Willis D. Fry, 79, formerly of 14489 W. Freemont St., Townville, died Saturday morning, Nov. 23, 2013, at Rolling Fields Nursing Home in Conneautville.

Mr. Fry was born July 10, 1934, in Oil City, a son of the late Lee and Edna Yoder Fry. He was married to Arlene B. Findlay on Sept. 6, 1958, at Wallaceville. She preceded him in death on Nov. 28, 2012.

Mr. Fry was a graduate of Oil City High School Class of 1951. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, having served in the U.S. Army. He entered the service on March 10, 1955, at Oil City and was honorably discharged on Dec. 20, 1956, with the rank of sergeant. He served 28 years with the Pennsylvania National Guard.

He had been employed as a sawyer at Eager Beaver Lumber in Townville for 19 years until his retirement in 1996. He had also been employed at Cornish Lumber at Bear Lake for 10 years and Maier Lumber at Bangor for 10 years.

Mr. Fry was a member of the Cambridge Springs Post 381 American Legion; was a member of the TREA (The Retired Enlisted Association); and was a volunteer for the Veterans Administration Clinic in Meadville.

He is survived by two daughters, Lesli Rankin and husband, Jim, of Houston, Texas, and Lori Fry of Erie; two granddaughters, Sara and Heidi Rankin; three brothers, James Fry of Hydetown, Robert Fry and wife, Sue, of Hydetown, and Thomas Fry and wife, Cindy, of Centerville; three sisters, Helen Gilliam and husband, Eugene, of Newberry, S.C., Virginia Roberts of Langhorn and Patricia Weaver of Enterprise; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, Willis was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Fry; and a sister, Leora Ennis.

No public calling hours were observed.

Interment will be in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies at Bridgeville.

The family asks that memorials be made to Shriners Hospital for Children, 1645 W. Eighth St., Erie, Pa. 16505.
