MEADVILLE — Sarah Smith Ferer, 94, of Meadville died Monday, Nov. 4, 2013, at the Marquette Hospice House.

She was born in Meadville on Sept. 5, 1919, a daughter of Homer and Hazel Boyle Smith. She married Benjamin H. Ferer on Dec. 13, 1942, and he preceded her in death March 29, 1988.

School Board, the Crawford County Office of Aging and the Crawford County Home (now Crawford County Care Center). She was active with the Crawford County Republican Party and their candidates and was a Committee Woman of the Year a few years ago. She enjoyed caring for her family, helping others and loved her neighborhood children.

A special thanks to her cousin, Elaine Barnes, for her dedication to Sarah and special care for the family. The family would also like to thank the wonderful nurses and staff at Hospice of Crawford County and the Marquette Hospice House.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Russell Smith and Arnold Smith; and a sister, Alice Titley.

A private graveside service will be held in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.

The family suggests memorials be made to St. Paul’s Reformed Church, 1070 Park Ave., Meadville; or Hospice of Crawford County, 464 Pine St., Meadville, Pa. 16335.
