CONNEAUTVILLE — Doris Loujean Bechtel, 81, of Conneautville died Friday, Oct. 18, 2013, at UPMC Hamot.

She was born Sept. 9, 1932, in Conneautville, to the late Paul Ford Barnes and Arlene Vivian Greenfield Barnes. She married James B. Bechtel on Dec. 2, 1952. He preceded her in death on July 11, 2003.

Doris worked at Toteline, Ohio Rubber Company more than 12 years where she was a foreman, and later in life worked for Wal-Mart.

She attended Valley Church United Methodist. She loved gardening, playing cards and watching NASCAR racing. She spent many hours doing ceramics and attending sporting events of her grandchildren. She loved her family very much. Doris was well known in her community through her efforts to support Conneaut Valley Homecoming association as past chairman of fair exhibits.

She is survived by two sons, Terry (Joanne) Bechtel of Springboro and their children, Dr. Trevor (Brenda) Bechtel of Syracuse, Trace (Sarah) Bechtel of Conneautville and Josh (Kara) Bechtel of Meadville, and Timothy (Nyla) Bechtel of Conneautville and their children, Troy (Heidi) Bechtel of Conneautville, Tanner Bechtel of Pittsburgh and Tenielle Bechtel of Conneautville; 10 great-grandchildren, Jose, Aleysha, Carlos, Johanna, Lillian, Max, Tyler, Parker, Seth and Dylan; a sister, June (Stanley) Sowry of Conneautville; two brothers-in-law, Ott (Shirley) Bechtel of Butler and Rich Kennedy of Ford City, and a sister-in-law, Sue Barnes of North Carolina; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by a brother, Jerry Barnes; and a sister-in-law, Esther Kennedy.

Donations can be made in her memory to the American Heart Association, 823 Filmore Ave., Erie, Pa. 16505; or American Lung Association, 3524 W. 26th St., Erie, Pa. 16506.

Services were held Monday, privately at her request under the care of White-Cool Funeral Home, Funeral Director Gina M. McCauley, 1405 Main St., Conneautville.
