COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Sonia Marie Skiba Seremet, 37, of Colorado Springs, Colo., died Saturday, Oct. 5, 2013, of injuries she received in a tragic automobile accident in Colorado Springs. Sonia was born March 6, 1976, in Oil City and raised in Titusville.

Sonia graduated from Maplewood High School in Guys Mills in 1994. She went on to receive her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania.

Sonia began her career as a reading specialist at Pleasantville Elementary School and St. Titus School. She then moved to Colorado Springs where she was a first grade teacher at Gold Camp Elementary from 2002 to 2005 as well as at Prairie Hills Elementary from 2005 to 2013.

Sonia married the love of her life, Eric P. Seremet, on Aug. 23, 2008. She was extremely supportive of Eric’s job as head lacrosse coach at the U.S. Air Force Academy and a very important member of the USAFA lacrosse family.

Her passion and incredible love for her two children, Emelia, 4, and Anabel, 2, was amazing and inspiring. She was the best mommy ever.

Sonia is survived by her loving husband, Eric, and daughters, Emelia and Anabel, of Colorado Springs; her parents, Max and Delores Sanner Skiba of Titusville; a sister, Gretchen Howard and her husband, William, of Titusville; a brother, Drew Skiba of Corry; a sister-in-law, Tonya Skiba of Titusville; her nieces, Reese and Paige Skiba; her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Mary Frances and Albert Seremet of Syracuse, N.Y.; her brother-in-law, Chris Seremet and his wife, Alicia, of Baltimore, Md.; her sister-in-law, Jennifer Rangl and her husband, Jirka, and their children, Gabriela, Erika, Alexander and Nikolas, of the Czech Republic; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Relatives and friends will be received today from 5 to 8 p.m. at Leo N. Hennes Funeral Home Inc., 203 E. Main St., Titusville. A Christian Wake Service will be conducted by Father Walter Packard at 7:45 p.m. at the funeral home.

The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Titus Church, Titusville, with Father Packard, pastor for the Catholic Community of Titusville, as celebrant. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery, Cherrytree Township.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in Sonia’s memory to the Seremet Family Fund, Peoples Bank, 13725 Struthers Road, Colorado Springs, Colo. 80921.
