Meadville Tribune

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — Doris Jane Andrews Hazen died Thursday, Sept. 19, 2013.

Do was born and raised in Meadville on March 21, 1934. In 1956 she graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a degree in nursing. She touched many peoples’ lives during her career. She married Dr. Richard Hazen and they moved to Willmar, Minn., via Hartford, Conn., and Rochester, N.Y. In 1981 she moved to Scottsdale, Ariz. Wherever she lived she enjoyed participating in the arts.

Our loving and beloved Do — mother, grandmother, sister and friend — ended her three and one-half year battle with adenocarcinoma on Sept. 19. She was surrounded by love and in the arms of family. She will live in our hearts forever as an open-hearted, feisty and artful role model for living life to the fullest — with love and joy. We will remember her exuberance every time we notice beauty around us and have been forever blessed by her generous soul.

Do is survived by her children, Megan Hazen (Steve Carpenter), Marget Sanchez (Ed), Andrew Hazen and Elizabeth (Whiz) Hazen; grandchildren, Zane Hazen, Hayley and Kinzey Hazen, Zachary, Hannah and Andrew Sanchez; and great-grandson, Jack West; siblings, Donna Mullen, Deanna Stright and Ralph Andrews, and their families.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Valley or the American Cancer Society.

Arrangements are under the direction of Green Acres Mortuary, 401 N. Hayden Road, Scottsdale, Ariz.
