Betty Irene Best, 88, of Meadville, formerly of Knox, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2013, at her residence.
She was born May 15, 1925, in Leechburg to the late Hazel (Wolfe) and Charles France.
She was married on Oct. 21, 1944, to the late Cuvier H. Best at Alum Rock.
She is survived by her three children, Cathy Best of Meadville, Betty Bish of Florida, and Randy Best and his wife, Jill, of California; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandsons. She is also survived by a sister, Jean Linamen of Sunbury; and a sister-in-law, Gwen Best of Knox.
Mrs. Best was also preceded in death by an infant son, Paul; her sister, Dorothy Plattner; her brother, Glenn France; three sisters-in-law, Dorothy Best, Mary Ellen Best and Marion France; and three brothers in-law, Ardie Plattner, Vern Best and Marvin Best.
She was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ of Knox.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in William N. Rupert Mortuary, Knox.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in St. Paul United Church of Christ, with the Rev. Tony Fields officiating.
Interment will follow in St. Paul Union Cemetery.
