GREENVILLE, N.C. —
The Rev. Lawrence Robert Kepler died Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2013, at Vidant Medical Center, Greenville, N.C.
Lawrence Robert Kepler was born Nov. 8, 1923, to Clarence Richard and Lotta Avis Williams Kepler in Meadville. He had one brother, Darwin, who preceded him in death in 1990.
He married Ida May Thomas on July 21, 1945. To this union was born Lawrence Robert Kepler II and Alice Thomas Kepler.
In addition to his wife and children, Lawrence is survived by Bob’s wife, Sue; and Alice’s husband, Gene Andrews. He was also the proud grandfather of David and John Kepler as well as Jennifer Lou Andrews Dahmer; who is married to Matt Dahmer, and Lisa Anne Andrews. He also was the great-grandfather of Macey and Owen Dahmer.
He served with honor in the U.S Army during World War II and received the Combat Infantry Badge, the Bronze Star, Jubilee of Liberty Medal from France for his participation in the Normandy Invasion, Parachute Wings with two bronze medals signifying his jumps in both Normandy and Holland, Presidential Citation for heroism for his involvement in D-Day, and the Purple Heart Medal for combat injury in Holland. He received his highest honor on Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2013, when he entered his eternal reward.
A graveside service will be held Saturday at 3 p.m. at Venango Cemetery.
