Doris L. Obert Burgess Hubbard

Doris L. Obert Burgess Hubbard, 97, has died.

She was born March 15, 1916, in Lincolnville, a daughter of the late Elmer C. and Hazel Fosburgh Obert.

She attended Bloomfield schools and graduated there in 1933, where she was a member of the girls basketball team, which was the county champ. She then obtained a degree from Erie Business School in 1935. At the college she cooked for President McGeary and his family.

She was employed at Uniflow in Erie, Talon in Meadville, Raymond Manufacturing in Corry and at Union Bank in Union City.

She was a member of Lincolnville Baptist church, where she played piano and organ for 24 years. In 1970 she and her husband, Bill, built a home on Alligator Lake, St. Cloud, Fla. She lived in Florida for 40 years, where she enjoyed fishing, playing cribbage and played for dances for 20 years. Her talent for cooking and baking was enjoyed by all. In her later years, she was an empathic NBA fan.

Doris was preceded in death by her husband, William L. Burgess, on April 17, 1974, and by her second husband, Orson H. Hubbard, on Feb. 13, 1991; her parents, Elmer C. and Hazel Fosburgh Obert; a brother, Duane Obert; a sister, LaVieve Stone; an infant daughter, Diane; a son, Donald Burgess; and a stepson, Robert Hubbard.

Survivors include sons, James Burgess and his wife, Judy, and Dale Burgess and his wife, Joan; a daughter, Connie Molli and her husband, Garold, with whom she resided; and a stepdaughter, Dorothy Coats. She is also survived by a sister-in-law, Marge Obert; 11 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Robert M. Glenn Funeral Home Inc., 62 S. Main St., Union City, and attend funeral services there on Friday at 11 a.m. Pat Burgess will officiate with interment in Evergreen Cemetery, Union City.
