James E. Young, 81, of Cochranton, died Friday, April 5, 2013, at Wesbury Methodist Community.
He was born in Millvale on April 9, 1931.
He was a graduate of North Catholic High School and served with the 65th Infantry Regiment in Korea from October 1952 to October 1954.
Returning from the war, he worked at Western Electric (presently AT&T) in Pittsburgh.
He attended St. Mark’s Church of Christ, enjoyed golfing, pitching horseshoes, fishing and flying his airplane.
He was also a member of Cochranton Volunteer Fire Department Station No. 4 and the West View Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Survivors include his wife, Julie, whom he married on April 1, 1981; five step-children, Lana Dumrauf and her fiancée, Michael Jencka, of Ross Township, Tom Dumrauf and his wife, Vanessa, of Grove City, Michael Vuletich III and his wife, Pam, of Prospect, Stephen Vuletich of Florida and Diane Vuletich of New Mexico; four step-grandchildren, Alex Vuletich, Maura Vuletich, Kelly Dumrauf and Stephen Vuletich Jr.; two nephews, Kevin and Keith Young; and his German Shepherd, Riley.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Robert Young; and a nephew, Kenny Young.
There are no calling hours.
A private funeral service will be held today at 11 a.m. at the Dickson Family Funeral Home Inc., 123 S. Franklin St., Cochranton, with the Rev. Russell Hines of St. Mark’s Church of Christ, officiating.
Interment will be in Kiser Hill Cemetery.
