Doris I. Dalton

COCHRANTON — Doris I. Dalton, 89, of Mule Street, Cochranton, Fairfield Township, passed away at 6:20 p.m. Thursday, March 28, 2013, at her residence following a period of declining health.

Doris was born in Geneva on June 27, 1923, a daughter of the late Floyd Demoss and Nannie Olive Peterson Wescott. She had been married to Clifford Wilcox, who preceded her in death in 1963. She subsequently married Elroy C. Dalton on Jan. 31, 1990, and he preceded her in death on May 14, 2010.

She had retired from the former Moore Company, Cochranton, after 42 years of service. She had attended the former Reash United Brethren Church.

“Aunt Dot,” as she was affectionately known to her family and friends, had a love for quilting, having made more than 600 quilts during her lifetime — many of which she shared with family and friends. She had been featured in The Meadville Tribune for becoming a member of the 400 Club in which she had achieved the accomplishment of having made more than 400 quilts. She was an excellent cook and seamstress, loved to play cards and enjoyed traveling to Florida when she was able to do so.

She is survived by two sons, Patrick Wilcox and his wife, Geneva, of Cochranton, and Michael Wilcox and his wife, Nancy, of Skiatook, Okla.; three stepsons, Thomas E. Dalton and his wife, Nancy, of Cochranton, William E. Dalton and his wife, Connie, of Conneaut, Ohio, and Feron E. Dalton and his wife, Renauda, of Cochranton; a sister, Bernice Hough of Meadville; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her stepfather, James Bailey; her husbands; a son, James G. Wilcox; four brothers, Chester Hall, Keith C. Hall, Clare Wescott and Vance Wescott; and three sisters, Edna C. Hall Ogden, Winifred Hall Morian and Imogen Ruth Wescott Ray.

Friends may call on Monday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Robert L. Snyder Funeral Home and Crematory Inc. 3223 Perry Highway, Sheakleyville, and are invited to share memories and condolences online at rlsfh.com.

The funeral service will be on Monday at 7 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Russell Hines officiating.

Cremation has been selected as disposition.
