Bettye J. Craven, 82, formerly of Emeritus of Lakewood, N.Y., passed away Friday, Jan. 18, 2013, at the Brevillier Village Assisted Living Facility, Erie.
A Jamestown, N.Y., area resident for the past 27 years, she was born June 14, 1930, in Meadville, a daughter of the late Chester and Margaret Johnson VanSlyke. She married William R. Craven on May 24, 1954. He preceded her in death Sept. 12, 2010.
She was a graduate of Meadville High School and was a member of Zion Covenant Church in Jamestown.
Survivors include a daughter, Christa Craven (Jill Shaffer) of Erie; two sons, Vernon (Lynn McLane) Craven of Frewsburg, N.Y., and Kenneth (Christina Erdley) Craven of Kittanning; four grandchildren, Jennifer (Andrew) Nelson of Erie, Autumn (Brian) Hagberg of Colorado Springs, Colo., Nick Craven and Alex Craven, both of Kittanning; a great-grandson, Caleb Nelson; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Bonita Quackenbush; and two brothers, Raymond and Milton VanSlyke.
Calling hours are Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Lind Funeral Home, 805 W. Third St., Jamestown.
The funeral will be at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Steve Kilburn of Zion Covenant Church, Jamestown, officiating.
Burial will be in Greendale Cemetery, Meadville.
