COCHRANTON — William H. Sheckler, 71, of Cochranton, died Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2012, at Meadville Medical Center. Born Dec. 20, 1941, in Meadville, he was a son of Homer and Cleo Consider Sheckler.

He worked for Conrail for several years and also with his brother at Sheckler Contracting.

He enjoyed watching basketball, and earlier in life enjoyed hunting.

He was a member of the Cochranton Fire Department Station 4, the Meadville Moose and Vernon Central.

Survivors include his children, Carl Sheckler and his wife, Mindy, of Erie, Michael Sheckler and his wife, Kelle, of Meadville, and Jolene McGowan and her husband, Jonathan, of Meadville; three sisters, Virginia Seely of Jamestown, Marylou Morrison and her husband, Archie, of Cochranton, and Edna Horodyski and her husband, Thomas, of Meadville; a brother, Paul Sheckler and his wife, Becky, of Conneaut Lake; and four grandchildren, Gavin, Connor, Kaleb and Ivy.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Friends will be received at Dickson Family Funeral Home Inc., 123 S. Franklin St., Cochranton, on Sunday from 2 until 4 p.m. The funeral and committal service will be at 4 p.m. on Sunday from the funeral home, with the Rev. David Brumagin officiating.

Interment will be in Zion Trinity Reform Cemetery, Fairfield Township.
