Joseph F. Fetcko

MEADVILLE — Joseph F. Fetcko, 61, of Meadville, died at home on Sunday, Nov. 20, 2011.

He was born in Washington on Oct. 12, 1950, a son of the late Carl A. and Florence G. Griffin Fetcko.

He was a 1972 graduate of Penn State University, and was a senior advancement officer in the Development and Alumni Affairs Department of Allegheny College for the past 10 years. He previously had lived and worked in Tucson, Ariz., where he was a very successful self-employed management consultant for 20 years before returning to Pennsylvania to be near his family.

He was a member of Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church in Mageetown (near Centerville), and he attended Our Lady Queen of the Americas Roman Catholic Church, Conneaut Lake.

His professional associations included membership in the Council for Advancement and Support of Education and the American Association of Fundraising Professionals.

His mother passed onto him an interest in family genealogy. He greatly enjoyed spending time at the farmhouse and barn in Mageetown, as well as sharing it with his family and friends. He was also especially proud of his Farmall tractor. He also loved his cats, most particularly Sarah Lilly.

Survivors include two brothers, Carl (Bill) W. Fetcko and his wife, Linda, and Tom Fetcko, all of Canonsburg; a sister, Margie Mahramus and her husband, Nick, of Canonsburg; his aunt, Ann Feconda of Leesburg, Va.; several cousins, including two with whom he was especially close, Judy Nozling of Pittsburgh and Cathy Bauer of Aliquippa; 10 nieces and nephews, Jodi Kubit and her husband, Ed, Shawn Fetcko and his wife, Sara, Carl (Opie) William Fetcko and his wife, Kari, Shannon Fetcko, Frank Roberts, Jaime Bittner and her husband, Mike, Katie Boris and her husband, Jon, Anthony Mahramus, Alyssa Mahramus and Nichol Petrella; and several great-nieces and great-nephews. He also leaves behind many friends, here and in Arizona, including his best friends of over 40 years, Tony and Jayne Bongiovanni of Phoenix.

Friends will be received Saturday from 2 to 6 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, Inc., 581 Chestnut St., Meadville.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10 a.m. at Our Lady Queen of the Americas Church, 155 South Ninth St., Conneaut Lake.

Interment will be in Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Mageetown.

The family suggests memorials may be made to Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, c/o Art Erickson, 41910 Mageetown Road, Centerville, Pa. 16404; or to Allegheny College, 520 North Main St., Meadville, Pa. 16335.
