MEADVILLE — Esther Jean Smolinski, 89, of 31 N. Park Ave., Meadville, formerly of 11110 Hunters Ridge Blvd., Meadville, went to be with her Lord on Monday, Feb. 3, 2014.

She was a member of St. Agatha Roman Catholic Church, Meadville.

Esther had been employed by Cargo Cleaners and by the former American Viscose Corp. Her hobbies included cooking, quilting, listening to country music, collecting records and videos. What she enjoyed most in life was spending time with her grandchildren; whether she was babysitting or attending their many activities, she was always there for them and loved watching them grow.

Esther is survived by four children, Robert Edward Smolinski and his wife, Angela, of Meadville, Patricia Ann Kedzierski of Erie, Burnell E. (Bud) Smolinski and his wife, Linda, of Cambridge Springs, and Betty Jean Carlson of Meadville; six grandchildren, Kimberly Marsteller and her husband, David, Jamie Smolinski and his wife, Leanne, Kevin Carlson and his wife, Rachel, Deanna Hall, Tara Hall and Ashley Hall; 13 great-grandchildren Ryan, Rachel, Mia, Brielle, Brendan, Matthew, Jennifer, Dustin, Katrina, Tyler, Evangeline, Raydyn and Ethan; two sisters, Mildred Nelson and Shine Gamble, both of Bolivar; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Edward, of 62 years, Esther was preceded in death by two grandsons, Chase Ryan Carlson and Chadwick Dean Hall; a brother, Robert Nelson; and two sisters, Doris Altimus and Dorothy McConnell.

Family and friends are invited to call from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Stephen P. Mizner Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc., 404 Chestnut St., Meadville, where a scripture service will be conducted at 4 p.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 10 a.m. at St. Agatha Roman Catholic Church, 353 Pine St., Meadville, with Father David Poulson as celebrant.

Esther will be laid to rest next to her husband, Edward, in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Vernon Township.
