Rev. Robert P. Fedor

MEADVILLE — The Rev. Robert P. Fedor, 83, died Friday, Nov. 22, 2013, at the Marquette Hospice House of Meadville.

He was born Sept. 14, 1930, in Cleveland, Ohio, the son of the late Julius and Margaret Repas Fedor.

After attending St. Margaret Elementary School and Benedictine High School in Cleveland, he served our country in the U.S. Marine Corps and then attended John Carroll University in Cleveland before joining St. Mark Seminary in 1955.

After studies at Gannon College, Erie, and St. Bonaventure University, New York, he received his major seminary formation at Theological College in Washington, D.C., and was ordained to the priesthood for the Diocese of Erie on May 11, 1961, in St. Peter Cathedral by Bishop Edward McManaman.

He began his priestly ministry as parochial vicar of St. Bernard Parish in Bradford, where he remained until 1966. He subsequently served in that same role at St. Bartholomew Parish in Sharpsville from 1966 to 1970, and Blessed Sacrament Parish in Erie from 1970 to 1973, before becoming pastor of St. Mary of the Assumption Parish in Frenchville from 1973 to 1981, and then served at St. Timothy Parish in Curwensville from 1981 to 1991, followed by St. Peter in Conneautville from 1991 to 1998. While at St. Bartholomew Parish he taught part-time at Kennedy Catholic High School. He also served as chaplain at the Albion State Correctional Institution, the Erie County Prison, the Crawford County Correctional Facility, and the Drug and Alcohol Rehab unit at then-Spencer Hospital (now Meadville Medical Center) in Meadville. His last assignment before retirement was as senior associate at St. Agatha Parish in Meadville from 1999 to 2005.

He retired from active ministry in 2005.

He was a loving brother to Margaret Cyphert and the late Mary Agnes Prohaska; special uncle to Allen, Harry and Bruce Prohaska, Dolly Reinhart, Kathy Andrews, June Hathcock, Richard Cyphert and Roseann Coffin; and special cousin and friend of many.

Calling hours are today from 4 to 6 p.m. and Monday from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at St. Agatha Church, 353 Pine St., Meadville.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 11 a.m. at the church, with Lawrence T. Persico, bishop of Erie, as the main celebrant of the funeral, with Bishop Emeritus Donald W. Trautman as homilist.

Interment will follow in St. Peter’s Cemetery, Conneautville.

In lieu of flowers, family suggests contributions to the Marquette Hospice House of Crawford County, 464 Pine St., Meadville, Pa. 16335; or Benedictine High School, 2900 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, Cleveland, Ohio 44104.
