SAEGERTOWN — Mildred E. Larson, 98, formerly of Wesleyville, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2013, while at the Crawford County Care Center, Saegertown.

She was born April 11, 1915, in Sherman, N.Y., a daughter of the late Newton and Hazel Bock.

Mildred was an active member of Wesleyville Baptist Church for more than 90 years. She was also selected as the grand marshal for the Wesleyville Centennial Parade in 2012 because she was the longest living resident of the borough, having lived there for 92 years. She was employed at W.T. Grant Co. and the Boston Store in the fabric department, retiring in 1967.

Mildred enjoyed knitting baby sweaters, hats and mittens for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Children around the world benefited from her knitting skills as she made sweaters and blankets for various charitable projects. She was a member of Keenagers, Stay Young at Heart, Merry Mixers, Elderberries, and the Salvation Army Road Runners.

Mildred is survived by her children, Charles Larson of Corinth, N.Y., Karen (William) King of Brunswick, Ohio, and Christine (Douglas) Stanton of Meadville; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one great-great- grandchild will carry on her legacy.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester Larson, in 1984, and her brother, Jack Bock.

At her direction, there will be no viewing hours.

A memorial service will be held Nov. 29 at 11 a.m. at Wesleyville Baptist Church, officiated by the Rev. Mark McCallion.

Interment will follow in Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery.
