SAEGERTOWN — Louise M. Tenney, 85, of Saegertown peacefully passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2013, at Rolling Fields nursing home in Conneautville after a lengthy illness.

She was born on March 11, 1928, in Meadville, a daughter of Emil E. Kurt and Mary Mohra Kurt.

Louise attended St. Agatha High School. She began employment at Montgomery Wards and then Talon of Meadville where she met Howard J. Tenney. Louise became a homemaker after she and Howard were married on June 14, 1947. Then, together in 1968 they established Pine Ridge Stables, providing equestrian services for more than 35 years to the Meadville area.

Louise was a member of Saint Bernadette Roman Catholic Church. She had formerly been an active member of the Altar and Rosary society.

Louise loved square dancing in her earlier years as a member of the Conneaut Lake Kickers. She had many hobbies, particularly gardening. She was also proud to serve her blue ribbon winning breads and pies. But no more proud than she was of her family.

She is survived by Howard, her husband of 66 years; four children, Regina A. King and her husband, Edward, of Saegertown, Rebecca L. Mosley and her husband, Dennis, of Farmdale, Ohio, H. Michael Tenney and his wife, Patricia, of Walworth, N.Y., and Mark J. Tenney of Saegertown; nine grandchildren, Rachel King of Manassas, Va., Amanda Nay of St. Johns, Fla., Sara King of Conneaut Lake, Jason King of Erie, Greg Mosley of Farmdale, Kevin Mosley of Williamsfield, Ohio, Matthew Tenney of Warren, Ohio, Jonathan Tenney of Ithica, N.Y., and Zachary Tenney of King George, Va.; 13 great-grandchildren and one on the way; a brother, Andrew Kurt of Erie; a sister-in-law, Mildred Kurt of Erie; a daughter-in-law, Susan Stoudt of Venango; and many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her parents; she was preceded in death by an infant son, Jerome; two brothers, Eugene and Oscar Kurt; and two sisters, Josephine Smith and Mary McCarl.

A gathering of family and friends will be held Saturday from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at Roofner-Collins-Warren Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 544 Chestnut St., Meadville. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated following calling hours at 11 a.m. at Saint Agatha Roman Catholic Church, 353 Pine St., Meadville, with Father Matthew Kujawinski, pastor of Saint Agatha Roman Catholic Church, as celebrant, being assisted by Father Robert Fedor.

The committal service and burial will follow in Saint Agatha Cemetery, Meadville.

The family would like to express gratitude for the kindness of the staff at Rolling Fields and especially for the loving care from Brooke and everyone on Ash Street.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Louise’s memory to Hospice of Crawford County, 464 Pine St., Meadville, Pa. 16335.
