WAVERLY, N.Y. —
Sarah Jean Stauffer Williams, 95, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2013, in Waverly, N.Y.
She was born to Bird and Ora Lee Stauffer on June 13, 1918, in Hazelton, and spent much of her childhood there and near Sunbury. She married Lewis Davies Williams on Jan. 1, 1955, in Selinsgrove.
She was predeceased by her husband in 1968; and by her brother, William (Bill) Stauffer, in 2008.
Jean attended Bucknell University and later graduated from Abington Hospital School of X-ray Technology. She worked in and near Meadville until her late 70s.
She was a member of Christ Church (Episcopal) and the Colonel Crawford Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She enjoyed collecting and repairing antique dolls, cooking, sewing and her family and friends. After she retired, Jean resided with her daughter and son-in-law in Florida for a time before moving to the Valley (Waverly).
Jean is survived by her loving adopted children and their spouses, Eleanor and George (Dean) Booth of Cutler Bay, Fla., Marylou and Sid Ranck of Milan, and Lewis and Cathy Williams of Kissimmee, Fla. She is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, friends; and special nurses and caretakers at Elderwood at Tioga, where she resided at the time of her death.
The funeral service is being arranged at a later date by special niece, Jeannie Ravert, of the Williams-Hagen Funeral Home in Plymouth, with the kind assistance of Lowry Funeral Home in Athens, N.Y.
