DUNKIRK, N.Y. —
Gary Alan Linton, 78, formerly of Erie and Corry, died Monday, Jan. 6, 2014, in Dunkirk, N.Y. He was the son of the late Kenneth Gardiner Linton and Violet Louise Lazarow Thompson Linton. He was born Dec. 18, 1935, in Schenectady, N.Y.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Mona Elaine Hunter Linton Foote; and his brother, William Stuart Thompson.
He is survived by his second wife, Rebecca Roann Templeton Linton of Clymer, N.Y.; his four children, Mrs. Cynthia Louise (Linton) Rushton, wife of the Rev. Alexander Rushton, of Conneautville; Mr. Joseph Vernon Linton of North East, Mrs. Rebecca Jane (Linton) Small Yocom, wife of Richard Yocom, of Dewittville, N.Y., and Mr. Steven Kenneth Linton, husband of Helicia (Price) Linton of Clymer; six grandchildren, which includes Shawn Michael Cessna, Nicole Marie Small of Erie, Karen Vanessa Keefer of Union City, Jaylen Linton and Becca Linton of Clymer; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He served in the U.S. Naval Reserve in the 1950s, and worked at Smith Meter (now known as Moorco) from 1960 until his retirement in 1998 as an electronic technician. His interests included amateur radio (formerly WB3CFC), blacksmithing, genealogy, model trains, photography and spending time with all of his family.
The Bracken Funeral Home, 315 North Center St., Corry, will handle all arrangements. A memorial service will be held in the spring of 2014 at the convenience of the immediate family. No calling hours will be observed. Condolences can be expressed online at brackenfh.com.
