James (Jim) F. Clancy

MEADVILLE — James (Jim) F. Clancy, 83, of 421 Arch St., Meadville, passed away peacefully at Wesbury United Methodist Retirement Community on Sunday, Oct. 7, 2012.

Jim was born July 20, 1929, in Meadville, a son of the late James A. and Elizabeth Sullivan Clancy.

He received his education at the former St. Brigid Grade School and Meadville High School. A veteran of the U.S. Army, Korean Conflict, Jim served his country from Feb. 6, 1951, until his honorable discharge on Jan. 28, 1953. After many years of service, Jim retired from the State Liquor Authority.

Jim was an avid sports fan of Meadville High School and Allegheny College football and track teams. He was a long-time follower of Notre Dame football.

Jim is survived by a sister, Mary Ellen Snyder of Tucson Ariz., her four daughters and son, and their families; and a brother John T. Clancy and wife, Carol, of Rome, N.Y., their son, two daughters and their families.

In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph P. Clancy; and brother-in-law, Paul E. Snyder.

Jim was a loving member of his family of many nieces, nephews grandnieces and grandnephews, never missing birthdays with calls, cards and gifts. He was loved in return and will be missed by all. His many friends and neighbors were vital to him, and throughout his life he always looked out for them in their homes, making multiple hospital and nursing home visits. These same neighborhood friends, old and new, as well as many Meadville friends, looked out for Jim in his declining years.
