Barbara Kay Miller-Brown-Elefsiades

KISSIMMEE, Fla. —  Barbara Kay Miller-Brown-Elefsiades, 71, of Kissimmee, Fla., passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, June 2, 2013.

Barbara was born in Meadville to Wilford and Martha (Lilah) Miller on March 18, 1942.

She grew up in Guys Mills, where she graduated from Randolph-East Mead High School in 1960. She then went to St. Petersburg Junior College and then onto the University of South Florida, where she earned a bachelor of arts degree in music with a focus in pipe organ in 1964.

She was a loving and faithful wife to the late Ray Brown and Eddie Elefsiades. Barbara began her career as a church organist in several churches in St. Petersburg, Fla. When she attended the United Methodist Church, she directed the children’s choir. She then taught music education in Orange County schools. She worked closely with her husband, Ray Brown, to form Diller/Brown Associates. During her retirement years she worked as a substitute teacher for the Osceola County Schools, where she enjoyed working with special education students.

Barbara was a Gator booster for more than 30 years. She enjoyed doing cross stitch, spending time with her grandchildren and traveling. Barbara has been a member of First Baptist Church of Orlando, Fla., for the last 23 years, where she had also volunteered in the music program and worked in the jail ministry.

Barbara is survived by her father, Wilford Miller; her sister, Linda Lenhart; her brother, Raymond Miller; her sister, Mary Klingler; her son, Terry Brown; her daughter, Sharon Brown; and her daughters, Michelle Kelly and Christa Elefsiades. She is also survived by her two grandchildren, Zachary and Ainsley Brown; and many loving nieces and nephews.

Barbara brought happiness and joy to every place she went. She will be greatly missed by all her loving family and many devoted friends. Her relationship with the Lord is a comfort and an inspiration. We all feel deeply blessed to have experienced such a beautiful person.

The memorial service will be held on Friday at 2:30 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Orlando, Henry Chapel, 3000 S. John Young Parkway, Orlando, Fla.

Arrangements are under the direction of Osceola Memory Gardens Cemetery, Funeral Home and Crematory, 1717 Old Boggy Creek Road, Kissimmee, (407) 847-2494. Online condolences may be sent at osceolamemgds.com.
