Mary Elizabeth Washok, 82, of Kantz Road, Meadville, died Monday, Nov. 18, 2013, at Meadville Medical Center, Transitional Care Unit. Born Aug. 30, 1931, in East Mead Township, she was a daughter of Ellis L. and Mary Louise Henretta Karns Sr. She married Charles R. (Myers) Washok Sr. on Oct. 23, 1954, and he preceded her in death on Feb. 27, 2011.
She was 1949 graduate of Cochranton High School and was of the Catholic faith. For several years she worked at Crawford County Care Center as a nurse’s aide and she also provided home health care.
She enjoyed quilting and cherished the time she spent with her family.
Survivors include her children, Charles R. Washok Jr. of Meadville, John Washok and his wife, Robin, of Cochranton, Elizabeth Washok Barton of Meadville, Stephen E. Washok of Mechanicsburg and Kevin Washok and his wife, Machele, of Elkton, Md.; grandchildren, Richard Anderson and his wife, Nancy, Dorothy Washok, Joel Washok, Joshua Washok, Nicholas Washok, Jessica Washok, Jerod Washok, Jennifer Washok and Tara Washok; stepgrandchildren, David Muma Jr. and his wife, Jamie, Allen Muma and his wife, Beth, and Holli Myers; two great-grandchildren, Ryker and Maximilian Anderson; and three step great-grandchildren, Dylan, LeAnn and Logan Muma; four brothers, James Karns and his wife, Marcene, of Guys Mills, Jerry Karns and his wife, Mary Ann, of Cochranton, Earl Karns of Cochranton and Eugene Karns of Hickory; a sister, Rita Bogardus and her husband, Wayne Sr., of Black Ash; a daughter-in-law, Mary K. Washok of Saegertown; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Joseph E. Washok; four sisters, Marge Maloney, Neva Ewing, Treva DeMaison and Yvonne Karns; and three brothers, Ellis (Bud) Karns Jr., Gaylord Karns and Tom Karns.
Friends will be received at Dickson Family Funeral Home Inc., 123 S. Franklin St., Cochranton, on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 251 S. Franklin St., Cochranton, with the Rev. Daniel Prez as celebrant.
Interment will be in St. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Pettis.
