MEADVILLE — Donald (Donny) James Saputo, 66, of 982 Grove St., Meadville, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2013, at home.

Donny was born in Meadville on April 3, 1947, a son of Betty M. (Limano) Saputo and the late Carl Saputo.

He was a member of St. Brigid Roman Catholic Church where, in his younger years, he served as an altar boy.

Donny retired from Tom Rockwell Trucking. He had previously been employed by Channellock Inc. and by the former Meadville Italian Bakery.

A 1965 graduate of the former St. Agatha High School, Donny attended grade school at the former St. Brigid Catholic School. He was a life member of the Italian Civic Club where he served as manager for several years. Donny was a big fan of the Cleveland Browns as well as the Cleveland Indians. He enjoyed following baseball and was a precise baseball statistician.

In addition to his mother, Betty, Donny is survived by two sons, Donald of Pittsburgh, and Mark and his wife, Stephanie, of Wisconsin; an aunt, Ethel Basile and her husband, Joseph; two uncles, Pete Limano, and Michael Limano and his wife, Charlene, both of Meadville; and several cousins.

In addition to his father, Donny was preceded in death by an uncle, Joseph Limano, and an aunt, Grace Higby.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Brigid Roman Catholic Church, 383 Arch St., Meadville, at 10 a.m. Friday, with Father Matthew Kujawinski, pastor of St. Agatha Roman Catholic Church, as celebrant.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Brigid Church, 383 Arch St., Meadville, Pa. 16335; or St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tenn. 38105.

Arrangements are under the direction of Stephen P. Mizner Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc., 404 Chestnut St., Meadville.
