COPLEY, Ohio — Cleo Josephine Gilliand, formerly of Meadville, peacefully passed Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2008, in Copley, Ohio.
She was born in Roanoke, Va., Aug. 30, 1917, a daughter of O.B. Walters and Irene Parker Walters. She married George A. Gilliand, July 7, 1936. He preceded her in death Dec. 26, 2000.
She was a housewife and homemaker her entire life.
During her time in Meadville, she was a member of First Presbyterian Church as head of the nursery and kindergarten department.
Survivors include a sister, Edna Chockley of Roanoke; a sister-in-law, Marion, (Don) Balough of Northfield, Ohio; a daughter, Jean Keller of Stow, Ohio; and two sons, Edward Gilliand and his wife, Jane, of Saegertown, and Richard Gilliand and his wife, Claudia, of Meadville. Grandchildren include Scott Keller and his wife, Lori, Keith Keller and his wife, Jodie, Brian Keller and his wife, Denise, all of Ohio, Susan Beers of Meadville, Michael Gilliand of San Diego, Calif., and Marci Finton and her husband, Dr. Dennie Finton, of Meadville; four stepgrandsons; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a sister, Edith Hill, and a brother, Jack Walters of Roanoke.
There will be no calling hours.
A private family service will be conducted at First Presbyterian Church.
