ALBION — Anna Marie Naas Stagl, 90, of Albion, passed away at her home on Saturday, Nov. 7, 2009.

Anna was born in Pittsburgh on Oct. 19, 1919, a daughter of the late Kasper and Anna Stumpf Naas.

She was an active member of Christ Church of Shadeland, Albion Chapter 481 Women of the Moose and the Edinboro Women’s Bowling League. She was a former member and past president of the Springboro Volunteer Firemen’s Auxiliary and Crawford County Women’s Auxiliary.

Anna was featured in the Erie Times-News’ “Women of the Greatest Generation.”

She and her husband owned and operated a dairy farm for 20 years. She worked the Albro Packing Co., Erie Mop and Wringer, C.J. Woods, Little Miss and the Albion News.

Her passion was bowling; however, she was a wallpaper hanger, enjoyed crocheting, sewing, quilting, making fleece blankets and making nylon net scrubbies. She also volunteered ironing at a nursing home.

Survivors include a daughter, Norma Jafko of Albion; a brother, Carl Naas and his wife, Glenda, of Springboro; a sister, Lillian Naas of Springboro; five grandchildren, Michael Jafko, LeAnn Jafko, Jeff Stagl, James Stagl, and Joseph Stagl and his wife, Victoria; 11 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; a former sister-in-law, Barbara Ledden and her husband, Jay, of Albion; and a brother-in-law, Peter Stagl of Conneautville.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Joseph J. Stagl; her son, James J. Stagle; son-in-law Peter M. Jafko; brother Casper Naas; and sisters Elizabeth Naas and Patricia Naas Tyler.

Friends may call Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at White-Cool Funeral Home, 1405 Main St., Conneautville.

The funeral will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday at 10 a.m., with the Rev. David McIlvried of Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church officiating.

Interment will be in Spring Cemetery.
