CAMBRIDGE SPRINGS— Mary Jane Allee Green, 93, resident of 325 Cummings St., Cambridge Springs, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 24, 2009, at Golden Living Center in Cambridge Springs after several months of declining health.

Born on Dec. 24, 1915, in Cambridge Springs, Mary Jane was a daughter of the late Jesse Charles Allee and Katherine Maloney Allee. She was a life-long resident of Cambridge Springs. Her husband, Edward E. Green, preceded her in death on Jan. 14, 1978.

Mary Jane was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Cambridge Springs and formerly had belonged to the church’s ladies aid society. She also was a former member of the Gam-Sac-Mah ladies group and the Friends 500 Club. She was an animal advocate and always enjoyed having pets in her home. Sports were of great interest to her and she was a strong Chicago Cubs baseball team fan. Until three years ago, she attended most of the Cambridge Springs High School home basketball games and baseball games and until one year ago she attended the Edinboro Men’s Softball Team games where her grandson was a coach and player.

Family surviving Mary Jane include a daughter, Charna Wolfe and her husband, Gary, of Cambridge Springs; two grandchildren, Jason Wolfe and his wife, Wei-Shin, of Bellefonte, and Jeffrey Wolfe of Cambridge Springs; a son-in-law, John Jewell of Meadville; a niece, Joyce Ann Freaney of North Carolina; two nephews, Marv Young and his wife, Veldonna, and Joe Young and his wife, Grace, all of Florida; and two sisters-in-law, Viola Bradshaw of Meadville and Donna Greene of Illinois.

She was preceded in death, in addition to her parents and husband, by a daughter, Sharon Jewell; and three sisters, Josephine Brink, Marion Pierson and Catherine Young; and a brother, Howard Allee.

Friends may call at Van Matre Family Funeral Home, 335 Venango Ave., Cambridge Springs, on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

The funeral will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Monsignor Lawrence Speice, pastor of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Cambridge Springs, will officiate.

Interment in Cambridge Springs Cemetery will be private.

In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be made to the Cambridge Springs High School boys baseball booster club.
