CONNEAUTVILLE — Bill Goodenow of Conneautville (Beaver Township) was born in Erie Nov. 20, 1948, the third son of George and Helen Goodenow of West Springfield, and passed away at Meadville Medical Center on Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2008.
He was a 1966 graduate of Northwestern High School. He was married to Donna Casbohm in 1966. They were married for 42 years. They had two daughters and sons-in-law, of whom he was extremely proud, Deanna Goodenow and her husband, Patrick Walter, of Knoxville, Tenn., and Michelle Goodenow Page and her husband, Todd, of Beaver Center.
From 1966 to 1968 he was employed consecutively by Roberts Construction of Erie, Blazon of Linesville and Roger Brothers of Albion. He began working for PPG Industry Works No. 8 in Meadville in 1968 and retired from there in 2004.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Helen Goodenow, in 1993; his father, George Goodenow, in 1996; and his older brother, George Jr., in 1967.
He was the son-in-law of Martha and the late Wallace Casbohm of Beaver Center. He enjoyed helping them with the farm for many years.
He is also survived by Donald Goodenow, his older brother and best buddy. They were volunteers at the Beaver Center Community Building for almost 15 years and were responsible for many major renovations to the building. They also enjoyed working on construction projects for friends and neighbors.
He had a very special great-nephew, Derrick Goodenow, who lived next door and whom he thought the world of.
In spite of his somewhat gruff exterior, he was highly regarded by all who knew him and he was loved deeply by his family.
He won his battle with cancer in 1995, but continued to battle the toll it had taken on him for the next 13 years. He lived life to the fullest and will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
