Published August 19, 2008 11:00 pm - CAMBRIDGE SPRINGS — Margaret L. Higley, 90, formerly of Meadville and the Cambridge Springs area, died Monday, Aug. 18, 2008, in Golden Living Center, Cambridge Springs.

CAMBRIDGE SPRINGS — Margaret L. Higley, 90, formerly of Meadville and the Cambridge Springs area, died Monday, Aug. 18, 2008, in Golden Living Center, Cambridge Springs.

She was born in Spartansburg, June 6, 1918, a daughter of the late Martin and Carrie Foster Lindsey.

Mrs. Higley was raised and educated in Spartansburg. Following her marriage she moved to Corry and worked as a nurse’s aide at Corry Memorial Hospital for more than 20 years. She has lived in the Meadville and Cambridge Springs area since 1968. Over the years her main priority was raising and caring for her family.

She enjoyed square dancing and spending time with her family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Leo Higley, on June 13, 1986. They were married in Clymer, N.Y., Oct. 10, 1937. She was also preceded in death by two daughters, Marlene Higley at birth and Carolyn Baideme; a son, Carlton Higley; two brothers, Clair and Lewis Lindsey; two grandsons, Billy Higley and Kevin Wright; and a great-grandson, Damion Scott Higley.

Mrs. Higley is survived by two daughters, Marlene Wright and her husband, John W., of Mechanicsville, Va., and Eloise Cieslak and her husband, Edmund, of Union City; and four sons, Robert Higley and his wife, Mary, and Larry Higley, all of Union City, and Duane Higley and his wife, Shirley, and David Higley, all of Cambridge Springs. Also surviving are 25 grandchildren, 49 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at Bracken Funeral Home, 211 Mechanic St., Spartansburg, on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., and may attend the funeral there on Friday at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Tom Hunsburger, pastor of the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church in Union City, officiating.

Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Spartansburg.

Memorials may be made to the MDA/ALS Division, 2810 W. 21st St., Erie, Pa. 16506.
