SAEGERTOWN — Mary P. Smith, 100, of 619 Euclid Ave., Saegertown, passed away Saturday, July 19, 2008, at Crawford County Care Center.

Mrs. Smith was born in Randolph Township March 7, 1908, a daughter of the late Frank Echnoz and Emma DeMaison Echnoz. Mary married Earl M. Smith, who preceded her in death Nov. 30, 1953.

In 1984, Mary retired from the housekeeping department of the United Methodist Home after 30 years of service. Mary was of the Protestant faith, and she enjoyed traveling and shopping.

Mary is survived by a daughter, Carol A. Niebauer and her husband, William, and a son, James R. Smith and his wife, Marie E., all of Saegertown; 12 grandchildren, Norma J. Caretti, Donald J. Smith, Gary Lee Smith, Douglas N. Smith, John R. Smith, Robert J. Smith, Randall E. Smith, Paul W. Smith, Brenda J. Lawrason, Jill M. Allen, Darci Smith and Todd L. Smith; 17 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and two daughters-in-law, Neva B. Smith and Sharon Smith, both of Saegertown.

In addition to her husband, Earl, and her parents, Mary was preceded in death by three sons, Neil J. Smith, Lawrence D. Smith and Gerald E. Smith; a daughter-in-law, Rebecca Smith; and five sisters, Laura Alexander, Lena Jones, Genevieve Lawyer, Gertrude Dearborn and Frances Perry.

Family and friends called Monday at Stephen P. Mizner Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc., 330 Broad St., Saegertown, formerly know as Hunter Funeral Home, where the funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. today, with the Rev. Kenneth Custer, pastor of Saegertown United Methodist Church, officiating.

Interment will take place in Brookhouser Cemetery, Saegertown.
