CENTERVILLE — Lester W. Nunemaker, 74, of 35945 State Highway 77, Centerville, was called home to be with his heavenly father at 7:35 a.m. Friday, July 03, 2009, at his residence following an extended illness.
Mr. Nunemaker was born April 2, 1935, at Erie, a son of the late Charles and Bessie Stroup Nunemaker. He was married to Elma Pattison on Nov. 8, 1967.
Mr. Nunemaker was employed for a number of years at Athens Township from where he retired in 1997. He was also elected supervisor of Athens Township, serving for five years until his resignation due to health reasons.
Mr. Nunemaker had also been employed at Hasbrouck Sand and Gravel, Hunter Sand and Gravel, and in his earlier years was self-employed as a truck driver. He was also employed for several years in the logging industry.
He enjoyed hunting, motorcycle riding, camping, boating and woodworking. He especially enjoyed doing for others and was always there for anyone in need. He never lost his sense of humor and love for God. He especially enjoyed activities with his family and grandchildren.
He was a charter member of Faith Bible Church at Tillotson Corners where he served as head usher; a volunteer with the Bloomfield Volunteer Fire Department for 12 years; and was president of the Riceville Cemetery Association for six years.
He is survived by his wife of Centerville; the following children, Rexford Nunemaker and wife, Dawnell, of Townville, Lester B. Nunemaker of Union City, Elizabeth Hill and husband, Charles, of Garland, Texas, Deborah Lyons and husband, Lynn, of Union City, Valerie Owen of Union City, Melody Crum and husband, Bruce, of Centerville, Cheryl Magee and husband, David, of Centerville, and Daryl Nunemaker and wife, Pam, of Union City; 16 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Ronald Nunemaker and wife, Mary, of Wattsburg and Arnold Rice and wife, Cleo, of Centerville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Vivian Watson, Mildred Stover and Violet Frantz; and six brothers, Charles, Kenneth, John and Thomas Nunemaker, and Robert and Alfred Dempsey.
Friends may call at Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home, 303 N. Washington St., Titusville, Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
The funeral will be at the funeral home Tuesday at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Trevor Brubaker, pastor of Faith Bible Church at Tillotson Corners, and Chaplain Joseph Kaufer of Southern Care, officiating.
Following the interment in Riceville Cemetery, friends and family are invited to the Nunemaker home for a picnic and time of sharing and are encouraged to bring pictures and their stories to share with the family.

The family would like to thank all family and friends who continued to remember Lester with visits, phone calls, cards and prayers. Also a very special thank you to the Southern Care team who were always there for us.
