Joseph William Teare

CONNEAUT LAKE — Joseph William Teare, 82, of Highland Avenue, Conneaut Lake, died Sunday, June 28, 2009, at UPMC-Horizon Hospital, Greenville.
He was born in Greenville on April 10, 1927, a son of Dr. Paul N. and Florence Devore Teare.
He was of the Methodist faith.
Joseph was a 1945 graduate of Greenville High School and he attended Thiel College. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Yorktown. He was a carpenter working for Devore Construction Co. and then Goodea Construction Co., retiring in 1989.
He was a member of Carpenters Local No. 268. He deeply loved his dog Penny, spending time at Conneaut Lake and he always enjoyed being busy.
Survivors include his loving companion, Adele Smith of Conneaut Lake; his sister, Carolyn Welsh of Pompano Beach, Fla.; his good friend of 50 years, Max Mead of Conneaut Lake; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Paul N. Teare Jr. and James Devore Teare.
Calling hours will be Tuesday from noon to 2 and 4 to 7 p.m. at Waid-Coleman Funeral Home Inc., 12422 Conneaut Lake Road, Conneaut Lake. The funeral will follow at 7 p.m. at the funeral home, with Brenda Loucks officiating. Military honors will be provided by Huidekoper Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 2006.
Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery.
The family suggests memorials be made to the Disabled American Veterans, PO Box 14301, Cincinnati, Ohio 45250-0301; or to Hospice of Crawford County, 464 Pine St., Meadville, Pa. 16335.
