COCHRANTON — Russell William Barngrover, 67, of 21364 Boyle Road, Cochranton, died Tuesday, June 23, 2009, at Meadville Medical Center.

He was born in Pittsburgh on March 12, 1942, a son of Frank H. Barngrover and Eleanor I. Slagel Barngrover. He married Genevieve M. Dallas.

He graduated from Shaler High School in Glenshaw and attended Duquesne University. He worked at Blawnox Engineering Co. of Pittsburgh, nuclear power plants in Beaver, Hendrick Building Systems in Erie, worked in Saudia Arabia and Israel, at Seco-Warwick in Meadville, and was owner of two businesses, Fairfield Quality Transporting in Cochranton and Best Friends Child Development Center of Conneaut Lake.

An avid deer hunter, he also enjoyed hunting moose, turkey and bear, and shooting trap. He loved playing online poker on Poker Stars.

He was a deputy for the Pennsylvania Game Commission, president of Crawford County Sportsman Council and a member of the Cochranton Sportsman Club.

He was affiliated with St. Agatha Church.

Survivors include his wife, Genevieve Barngrover of Titusville; four children, Russell H. Barngrover and his wife, Judy, of Charlotte, N.C., Gina L. Boughner and her husband, Brian, of Titusville, Ronald M. Barngrover and his wife, Hope, of Roanoke, Ala., and Kimberly M. Whitehead and her husband, Shawn, of Cochranton; eight grandchildren, Courtney, Amanda and Sydney Barngrover of Charlotte, N.C., Michael Brink of Pensacola, Fla., Samantha Baker of Titusville, Riley and Peyton Barngrover of Roanoke and Delaney Whitehead of Cochranton; and a brother, Frank Barngrover and his wife, Teresa, of Metairie, La.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a granddaughter, Jada Marie Baker.

Calling hours are today from 6 to 8 p.m. at Roofner-Collins Funeral Home Inc., 544 Chestnut St., Meadville.

There will be no funeral.

Burial will be private.

The family requests memorials be made to St. Agatha Church, 353 Pine St., Meadville, Pa. 16335.
