Terry Bertram Ross Vactor, 65, of 31 N. Park Ave., Meadville, passed away Thursday, June 18, 2009, at Wesbury United Methodist Community, Meadville.
Terry was born in Canonsburg on Jan. 30, 1944, the son of James B. Vactor and the late Evelyn A. (Ross) Vactor.
On July 23, 1966, Terry married Marjorie Lamb.
Over the years, Terry had been employed as a maintenance manager for both Rorrick Apartment Complex in Omaha, Neb., and for Yeigard Realtor Co. in Wichita, Kan. He previously had been employed as a furnace operator for the former American Brakeshoe and as a road repairman for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT).
A U.S. Army veteran, Terry served his country until his honorable discharge on Aug. 14, 1961.
Terry received a degree in air conditioning, refrigeration and heating from Universal Tech Institute, Omaha; attended Clinton Community College in Plattsburgh, N.Y., for a year; and had attended Meadville schools.
His hobbies included fishing.
Terry is survived by a daughter, Felicia Vactor of Tallahassee, Fla.; twin grandsons, Joshua and Jordan; his father, James B. Vactor of Meadville; a sister, Ruby Wade and her husband, Joseph, of Meadville; a brother, Timothy Vactor of Wichita; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Terry was preceded in death by his mother, Evelyn A. Ross Vactor.
Family and friends are invited to call Thursday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Stephen P. Mizner Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 404 Chestnut St., Meadville; the funeral will be held at 1 with the Rev. Berta Newsome, pastor of United Faith Fellowship Church, officiating.
Interment will take place with full military honors in Greendale Cemetery, Meadville.
