HADLEY — Thomas E. Fletcher, 94, of 701 Georgetown Road, Hadley, died At 8:15 a.m. Thursday, June 18, 2009, in Meadville Medical Center after a brief illness.

He was born Oct. 29, 1914, in Deer Creek Township, to William H. and Louise Rau Fletcher.

He attended Sheakleyville Schools and was a member of Sheakleyville United Presbyterian Church.

In early years, Tom owned and operated the T.E. Fletcher Trucking Co. of Hadley, and during the summers, owned and operated Cedar Haven Cottages on Bob’s Lake, Canada. Along with his wife and son, Terry, he currently owned and operated Fletcher’s Arctic Cat of Hadley for more than 36 years.

He was a 50-year member of Lake Masonic Lodge 434 of Sandy Lake.

Tom loved snowmobiles and was a member of the Pymatuning Trailblazer’s snowmobile club. He also enjoyed boating and water skiing, fishing, local stock car races, traveling and hiking in nature. He was an avid reader and in earlier years he enjoyed flying his Cessna and Piper Cub airplanes.

Tom loved being around people and enjoyed helping others any way that he could.

He married Mildred M. Foulk, June 22, 1940, and she survives at home. Also surviving are two daughters, Carol A. Gillespie and her husband, Bob, of Marblehead, Ohio, and Sandra L. Adams and her husband, James, of Sandy Lake; a son, Terry E. Fletcher of Hadley; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; a sister; Louise (Toots) Ray of Stoneboro; and a brother, Jack Fletcher and his wife, Rae, of Meadville.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Kate Symons Kelly and Ellen F. Drew; and a brother, William H. Fletcher Jr.

The family would suggest, in lieu of flowers, a memorial be contributed to a charity of the donor’s choice.

Calling hours will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday in Scott A. Black Funeral Home, 99 Franklin St., Stoneboro.

Private funeral will be at 6 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home, with the Rev. Timothy King, associate pastor of Living Word Christian Center, Greenville, officiating.

Interment will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, New Vernon Township.
