Donald E. (Heck) Heckathorn

OIL CITY — Donald E. (Heck) Heckathorn, 74, of 624 Bissell Ave., Oil City, died at 5:25 p.m. Sunday, May 18, 2008, at Golden Living Center in Oil City.
Born March 25, 1934, in Tippery, he was a son of Roy and Mildred Xander Heckathorn.
Mr. Heckathorn was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving in the U.S. Air Force.
He worked and retired from CPT. Then he worked for Selker Brothers, later Glenview Apothecary and lastly for Hovis Auto.
He was a life member of the Pulaski Club.
Mr. Heckathorn was an avid hunter and fisherman, enjoyed being with his grandchildren, and had been the treasurer for the men’s bowling league.
On April 3, 1959, he married the former Beverly Kay Peterson, who preceded him in death Oct. 1, 2003.
Surviving are a son, Scott Heckathorn and his wife, Barbara, of Oil City; a daughter, Shelly Lippert of Meadville; 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Harvey Heckathorn, Richard Heckathorn and Glenn Heckathorn; two sisters, Doris Morrison and Marian Miller; and a grandson.
Friends may call at Morrison Funeral Home, 110 Petroleum St., Oil City, today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.
Interment will be in Heckathorn Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to a charity of one’s choice.
