JAMESTOWN — Don B. Dye, 72, of 651 N. Summit Road, Jamestown, died Saturday, May 17, 2008, at his residence.

He was born May 22, 1935 in Tanner, W. Va., a son of Harold and Estie Greathouse Dye. He married Martha Roberts May 24, 1957. She survives.

He was a retired independent oil and gas well maintenance contractor.

He served in the U.S. Marines for eight years, earning the rank of corporal. He served in the Korean Conflict and in Japan. He was honor guard for President Dwight Eisenhower and at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. He also served as a military police officer in the Marines.

He was a member of the Shenango Church of Christ of Greenville. He enjoyed his family, his dogs and coon hunting.

In addition to his wife of 50 years, he is survived by three sons, Douglas Dye and his wife, Debbie, of Greenville; Gregory Dye and his wife, Tina, of Williamsfield, Ohio; and Timothy Dye and his wife, Myra, of Wexford; two sisters, Maryland Ingram of Salt Lake City, Utah; and Ruth Ellen Bell of Smithville, W.Va.; two brothers, Donald Dye of Smithville, W.Va. and Keith Dye of Oakboro, N.C.; and seven grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Johnny Dye and Dennis Dye.

Calling hours are today from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Randall Funeral Home, 416 Liberty St., Jamestown.

A religious service is Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the funeral home followed by burial in Park Lawn Cemetery, Jamestown.
