CONNEAUTVILLE — Victor D. Allen, 92, of East Main Street, Conneautville, passed away Monday, May 12, 2008, at his daughter’s residence.
Born in Conneautville Nov. 22, 1915, he was a son of the late Charles and Pearl Darby Allen. He married Loretta Mathlage in 1935; she preceded him in death Sept. 24, 1996.
He was employed by Talon and retired from Ohio Rubber after 34 years of service.
He was of the Methodist faith. He was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran, a 1934 graduate of Conneautville Vocational School and a member of Conneautville American Legion Post 615. He and his brother, Dale, in their earlier years were “all around handymen” in the Conneautville area.
Survivors include a daughter, Melody Abbott and her husband, Roger, of Conneautville; three sons, Victor Thomas Allen of Florida, Arthur David Allen of North Carolina, and Michael Allen and his wife, Joyce, of Greenville; a daughter-in-law, Jean Allen of Conneautville; 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Dale; a great-grandson, Patrick; a sister, Anna June Carless; and four brothers, Mason, Dale, Arthur (Buddy) and William.
Friends may call Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at White-Cool Funeral home, 1405 Main St., Conneautville, and attend the service there Thursday at 11 a.m., with Pastor Thomas M. Kennedy officiating.
Interment will be in Conneautville Cemetery.
