Sherman A. (Jeff) Dunlap Jr., 80, of 12927 Brooks Road, Meadville, died Sunday, May 11, 2008, at Golden Living Center, Cambridge Springs.

Born March 7, 1928, in Oil City, he was a son of Sherman A. and Marian Wilhelm Dunlap Sr. He married Esther Snyder Jan. 17, 1948.

He worked in the layout department of Joy Manufacturing in Franklin for 23 years, retiring in 1969. He and his family also operated a dairy farm in the Mt. Hope area for many years.

He attended Allida Smith Wesleyan Methodist Church and enjoyed reading.

In addition to his wife of 60 years, he is survived by six children, James Dunlap and his wife, Darla, of Liverpool, Nancy Brown and her husband, Nathaniel, of Arlington, Va., Sam Dunlap of Erie, Wilma Proper and her husband, Gene, of Guys Mills, Nina Gillette and her husband, Thomas, of Linesville, and Esther Allen and her husband, Bill, of Titusville; two brothers, Floyd Dunlap and his wife, Barb, of Franklin, and Edward Dunlap and his wife, Nancy, of Utica; five sisters, Leora Thompson of California, Pat Hartzel and her husband, Bob, of Knox, Alberta Peterson and Joyce Dunlap of Franklin, and Ethel Rice and her husband, Wayne, of Cooperstown; 13 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and a great-great-granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by a son, Michael Dunlap; a granddaughter, Amy Lynn Slagle; four sisters, Margaret Bean, Mary Pyle, Dolly Dunlap and Mabel Alice Dunlap; and four brothers, Martin, Lawrence, James Edward and Robert Dunlap.

Friends may call at Dickson Family Funeral Home Inc., 123 S. Franklin St., Cochranton, on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday from the funeral home, with the Rev. James Blackwelder, retired, and the Rev. William Peak officiating.

Interment will be in Denny’s Cemetery, with Meadville Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2006 providing military honors.

Memorials can be made to Hospice of Crawford County, 448 Pine St., Meadville, Pa. 16335.
