Jeanette M. Greer, 90, of 31 Park Ave., Meadville, formerly of 650 Russell Ave., Meadville, passed away Wednesday, May 7, 2008, at Wesbury United Methodist Retirement Community.

Mrs. Greer was born in Meadville Jan. 12, 1918, a daughter of the late John Battista and Sarafina DeMarco Grippi. In 1946, she married Roy James Greer; he preceded her in death Jan. 18, 1986.

She was a member of St. Mary of Grace Roman Catholic Church and was a former member of the church Altar Rosary Society.

At the age of 65, Jeanette retired from the former Avtex Corp., formerly known as American Viscose, after 47 years of service in the spinning department. In her earlier years she attended Meadville schools.

She was a member of the Italian Civic Club Auxiliary. Jeanette loved listening to music, dancing and watching old movies.

Jeanette is survived by three daughters, Kathleen Greer and Patricia Swanson, both of Meadville, and Linda Barker of Sharon; five grandchildren, David Swanson, Tricia Swanson, Michelle Barker, Christopher Barker and Kenneth Barker; a great-grandson, Alexander Hauf; a sister, Mary Homchenko and her husband, Paul, of Erie; two brothers, Joseph Grippi and his wife, Mary, of Meadville, and Stephen Grippi and his companion, Jean David, of Pittsburgh; a brother-in-law, Roger McCallister of Erie; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband of 40 years, she was preceded in death by a son, James Charles Greer; a granddaughter, Deborah Swanson; two sisters, Josephine Zinnamosca and her husband, Joe, and Rose McCallister; and two brothers, Sam Grippi and his wife, Margaret, and Frank Grippi.

Family and friends are invited to call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Byham-Miller-Mizner Funeral Home Inc., 404 Chestnut St., Meadville, where a Scripture service will be conducted at 3:40 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary of Grace Roman Catholic Church, Meadville, with Father Richard Toohey, pastor, officiating.

Interment will take place in St. Brigid Cemetery, West Mead Township.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary of Grace Roman Catholic Church, 1085 Water St., Meadville, Pa. 16335.
