EDINBORO — James A. Gigliotti, 74, a resident of 12460 Fry Road, Edinboro, since 1979, died there Friday, May 2, 2008.
Born in Erie March 25, 1934, he was a son of the late Eusebio and Concetta Yacobozzi Gigliotti.
Mr. Gigliotti retired from the Erie School District in 1996 after 25 years of teaching. He taught biology and science at junior and senior high schools in the district including Wayne Middle School, Academy, Strong Vincent, New Directions and Roosevelt, and he also taught in the alternative education program. He was a graduate of Prep High School and Gannon University; was a member of the Siebenbuerger Club; and enjoyed spending time with his family.
Those preceding him in death were three sisters, Clementine Nelson, Isabel Wisniewski and Ann Marie Poraczky; and a brother, Emidio Gigliotti.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Marjorie Hollenbeck Gigliotti, whom he married May 5, 1957; five children, Diane Burbules of Edinboro, James Allen Gigliotti of Brandon, Fla., Robert Gigliotti and his wife, Lori, of Durham, N.C., Scott Gigliotti and his wife, Yupinporn (Mam) of Bloomington, Minn., and Karen Walla and her husband, Troy, of Ohio; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Jean Coco of Erie; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be at Van Matre Family Funeral Home, 306 Erie St., Edinboro, today at 11 a.m. Officiating will be the Rev. Don Gordon of Gravel Run Presbyterian Church.
Burial will follow in Mitchell Cemetery.
