Clara I. Kegley, 65, of Shreck Road, Meadville, died Saturday, May 3, 2008, at UPMC Horizon, Greenville.
She was born in Meadville on Nov. 8, 1942, a daughter of Charles and Katie Bontrager Clark. She married Gerald L. Kegley on Dec. 5, 1981; he survives.
She worked for 20 years at Wesbury United Methodist Community, retiring in 1994 as a nurses’ aid.
She was a 1960 graduate of Meadville High School. She was an excellent knitter and crocheter. She exhibited her work at the Crawford County Fair for over 20 years and was a Grand Champion hand knitter. She also worked for over 20 years in the Home Show Building at the Crawford County Fair. She was a member of Bible Baptist Church and a past assistant leader of the Jog-a-Long 4-H Club.
Survivors, in addition to her husband Gerald of 26 years, include a daughter, Patricia Bisbee of Meadville; four step-daughters, Gwenda Brown of Decatur, Texas, Shannon Kegley of Meadville, Rhonda Hopkins of Meadville and Rachelle Viscuso of Carlton; her mother, Katie Clark of Meadville; two sisters, Mary Etta Buttray and her husband, Karl, of Meadville, and Shirley Yoder of Greenville; 18 grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a brother, William Clark; and three grandchildren.
Calling hours will be Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, Inc., 581 Chestnut St., Meadville.
The funeral and committal service will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, with the Rev. Phillip Thomas of Bible Baptist Church officiating.
Burial will be in Denny Cemetery.
The family suggests memorials be made to Bible Baptist Church, 11166 Livermore Road, Meadville, Pa. 16335.
