Full slate of musical acts mark Fourth at Conneaut Lake Park

CONNEAUT LAKE — What’s starting out all Rusted, getting run into by some Outlaws then ending up at least one part Poison?

The live music blowout that is the Beach Club at Conneaut Lake Park’s Fourth of July weekend celebration: A four-day stretch of events featuring performances by regional and national live-jam mainstays Rusted Root, rock music and reality TV star Bret Michaels and a whole lot more in between, including the Outlaws and a slew of other acts.

“This’ll be our biggest Fourth of July celebration ever,” said Greg Sutterlin, one of the partners of Park Restoration LLC, the business group that runs Conneaut Lake Park’s historic Hotel Conneaut and its Elizabeth’s restaurant, the Beach Club and other facilities on the lakeshore side of the park.

“We’re really excited” about everything that’s happening, Sutterlin said. “We wanted to make (the Fourth of July events) special” this year, he added — the nearby hotel’s 110th birthday is being celebrated as well, after all.

Bret Michaels, well-known as the frontman of hair-rock pioneering band Poison and for his solo music career, as well as his reality TV fame for shows including “Rock of Love” and the Travel Channel’s “Rock My RV,” will perform Sunday outside the Beach Club instead of in, according to Sutterlin, as tickets for that event have already out-sold the club’s roughly 700-person capacity.

“I can tell you, that (concert) is gonna be the peak of the weekend,” Sutterlin said. “We are all extremely excited to have him” in Conneaut Lake.

After well-attended and well-enjoyed performances at the Beach Club last year, the events’ hosts are also looking forward to welcoming back Rusted Root for a special Fourth of July performance and the Outlaws on Friday night, he added. Weather permitting, both of those events may also be taken outside, Sutterlin said.

Other regional acts rounding out the holiday weekend’s lineup are The Side Effects on Thursday; Radioactive on Friday; Hern Brothers on Saturday; and the Pure Led Zeppelin Experience tribute band on Sunday. There’s also a fireworks display on Saturday night.

Gearing up for a big Fourth of July weekend, “we’ve made it almost a week-long celebration,” Sutterlin said.
