A Saegertown-area woman has pleaded guilty in Crawford County Court of Common Pleas to simple assault in connection attacking her mother and threatening her with a large knife.
Jennifer Lynn Huckleberry, 30, of 17675 Ash Drive, Lot G19, pleaded guilty Monday before Judge Mark Stevens to the simple assault charge in a plea deal with the Crawford County District Attorney’s Office.
Huckleberry faces up to one year in jail and a $2,500 fine when she’s sentenced later this year. She remains free on $20,000 bond.
Huckleberry initially was charged by Pennsylvania State Police with terroristic threats, simple assault involving a deadly weapon, simple assault to cause physical menace, disorderly conduct and harassment.
Huckleberry, whom state police said also is known as “Misfit,” attacked her 51-year-old mother, Beverly June Betts, at Betts’ Ridge Road home in Hayfield Township the afternoon of March 19, and threatened Betts with a 13-inch kitchen knife.
In a news release on the incident, police said the two women were involved in a heated argument with both calling each other derogatory names.
According to police, Huckleberry struck Betts in the face and then armed herself with a 13-inch kitchen knife and threatened to stab Betts while holding the knife toward Betts.
Huckleberry’s grandmother, also in the home at the time, grabbed the knife away from Huckleberry, but Huckleberry and Betts continued to fight, according to state police.
Betts was charged by state police with disorderly conduct, simple assault and harassment. Betts’ case still is pending with county court.
