Region under flash flood watch until early Wednesday

MEADVILLE — A flash flood watch for Crawford and Erie counties continues through 4 a.m. Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service in Cleveland.

Monday’s thunderstorms have produced saturated conditions and additional thunderstorms are expected through the overnight hours with potentially local heavy rainfall.

The additional rain may cause flooding in low lying and poor drainage areas and may push some streams already near bank full into flood stage.

At 10:15 a.m. French Creek at Mercer Street in Meadville was at 5.25 feet. Flood stage is 14 feet.
